Onyinye's Story

Onyinye came to Canada with real, valuable experience behind her — but like so many newcomer moms, she quickly discovered that experience alone wasn't enough to open doors. She had the skills. What she didn't yet have was a way into the professional world around her.

That changed with a simple connection: a comment on Ngozi's CV review post, which led her straight to MumsFirst's Accelerated Coaching Program.

She joined expecting help with the basics — a stronger CV, a better LinkedIn profile. What she found was something bigger. Through the program, Onyinye learned the art of networking: how to approach coffee chats, how to reach out to professionals with confidence, and how to turn a short conversation into a genuine connection. It wasn't always comfortable at first, but she applied every lesson as she learned it.

Soon, she was reaching out to people she had never met — including senior professionals across Canada. Some conversations opened her eyes to industries and paths she hadn't considered. Others turned into real opportunities. And then, while she was still in the middle of the program, it happened: Onyinye landed her very first job in Canada.

It was proof of everything the program had taught her — that the relationships she built, and her willingness to put herself out there, could genuinely change the course of her career.

Today, Onyinye carries more than just a job title. She has a stronger professional network, real confidence, and a clear sense of how to keep building her career going forward. For her, MumsFirst gave her more than tools — it gave her a community, and a way to stay visible and engaged in a country that once felt unfamiliar.
